We travelled to many places, and I also met her parents and some of her friends.<\/p>\r\n<p>During this time, we went to dinner with two of her Japanese friends. After dinner we were discussing how everyone was going to get home, and Mari, my girlfriend&#8217;s friend, offered for her boyfriend to come pick us up and drive everyone home.<\/p>\r\n<p>When Mari\u2019s boyfriend arrived, we all did self introductions in Japanese. This is when the misunderstanding occurred.<\/p>\r\n<p>Mari\u2019s boyfriend introduced himself, \u201cNice to meet you, I\u2019m Tatsuya\u201d. Then I introduced myself in Japanese, \u201cNice to meet you, I\u2019m Josh (\u30b8\u30e7\u30b7\u30e5)\u201d. As far as self introductions go, I thought it was very normal.<\/p>\r\n<p>However, ten minutes later in the car Tatsuya said, \u201cAhhh your name is Josh (\u30b8\u30e7\u30b7\u30e5). I thought you meant \u52a9\u624b\u30fb\u3058\u3087\u3057\u3085 (assistant \/ helper).
