I was interested in this topic.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>On the plate people write their family name and then put it on the front door of their residence. The first time I saw this was in the anime Doraemon, when we see the\u201cNobita\u201dname plaque in front of the main character\u2019s house. It was fun to watch but I couldn\u2019t understand why they had to put a name in front of the house.<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arc.ac.jp\/Tokyo\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/19277a0070d45edfdc814b018c2e9470-300x153.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"153\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arc.ac.jp\/Tokyo\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/19277a0070d45edfdc814b018c2e9470-300x153.jpg 300w, https:\/\/arc.ac.jp\/Tokyo\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/19277a0070d45edfdc814b018c2e9470.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\u00a0It appears that in Japan they use the name plates to make it easier for the postman to find the house when delivering a parcel. And also, because many people in Japan feel safer if they know the name of the person who lives next to them. I thought that was very convenient. There are no such plaques in China. And even if there were, China has too few family names that it would make the name plates useless.<\/p>\r\n<p><br \/>\u00a0In Japan one family shares one single surname, and it\u2019s beautiful to see the family name plates and imagine one happy family living together under the same roof. I like this cultural aspect.
