Moreover, they are good and very capable students. In class we\u2019ve learned that saying \u201cgokurosamadeshita\u201d to your superiors or elders is rude, while it\u2019s okay to use \u201cotsukaresamadeshita\u201d also with your boss or seniors. I understand why it becomes natural for students to use \u201cotsukaresama\u201d with teachers as well&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0 But in reality, \u201cotsukaresama deshita\u201d is a very common greeting mainly used between colleagues that are working together in the same company. The type of relationship student\/teacher is not the same as one of two coworkers. <br \/>It\u2019s likely that your teacher felt a little bit uncomfortable because of that.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0 So, if you want to say something different than \u201csayonara\u201d, a simple \u201carigato gozaimashita\u201d would do perfectly!
